"Superb care throughout"

About: St Mary's Hospital (Manchester)

Our baby was born at Saint Mary's and needed surgery at a couple of days old, so he spent time in the NICU. The care we received both on the delivery ward and in the NICU was second to none. In addition to really excellent medical care, we were impressed by the care and dedication of all the staff, and by the continuity of care throughout the process. We were given excellent breastfeeding support which meant that we came home with him exclusively breastfed and raring to go. We really couldn't have asked for more from the hospital.

Thank you for your positive comments posted on the NHS Choices website regarding your care on the Newborn Intensive care Unit at Saint Mary’s Hospital. It was very kind of you to take the time to write and compliment the staff as it is good to receive positive feedback which reflects the hard work and dedication of our staff. It was reassuring to read that you thought the care both you and your baby boy received has been excellent and that you found the staff caring and committed. We are pleased to read that you experienced continuity of care as this is an aspect of care we are working hard to deliver as we recognise its importance to the families in our care. We are delighted that the breastfeeding support you received has enabled you to be discharged feeling confident and able to fully breastfeed your son, that is a fantastic achievement. I can assure you that we have passed on your thoughts to Mrs Weaver-Lowe, Lead Nurse for the Neonatal Unit and Mrs Hempstock, Lead Midwife and the staff involved across the maternity and neonatal services.
