My 15week old son was admitted into hospital with failure to thrive. We were both very anxious as it was out of the blue that we were going to be staying in overnight. At first we were given a very small room, a recliner for me to sleep on! ! not big enough to swing a cat but the nurses were kind enough to give us a larger room as it was clear to see we were both getting distressed and needed more space.
Our stay in hospital was every parents nightmare but couldn't fault any of the nurses/doctors/consultants. I was more than happy with the way we were looked after. Respected our wishes and dealt with all medical issues and allowed me to continue with everyday life for my son without any upset.
My only negative point would be I would like to make a suggestion about having something to hang outside the door just to make people aware that their child may be sleeping but to still come in if necessary but respect that the child needs sleep and doesn't appreciate being woken if not needed.
I hope it never happens but if my son was admitted into hospital I would be less anxious and have no worries about the care being provided to him.
