"Superb care"

About: University College Hospital / Gastroenterology

(as the patient),

I had an endoscopy back in February at St Marks at UCLH and can’t say anything negative about the way I was treated. Dr Frazer’s nurse Anie was superb- so polite and kind, professional and pleasant. It was just me and her in the room, she put electrodes on my body and then I swallowed the camera as a pill. Everything went well and Anie explained the procedure as it happened. I hadn’t eaten for 36 hours prior to the endoscopy as instructed so afterwards Anie was kind enough to fetch me a cup of tea- it was delicious. (Disappointingly the tea from the café was not as nice, vending machine tea is always a poor substitute!) I only have two very small complaints- firstly that the hospital was very cold. It didn’t affect me too much but some people were walking around in gowns and I felt for them, Secondly, when the procedure was finished and I could eat again- there were no sandwiches (or anything of sustenance) to eat. I was so hungry. But then a film came on the TV in the ward about Aushwitz and all I could think about was how little they had to eat so I figured I’d survive!
