"Disappointed"

About: Royal Bolton Hospital

My uncle was admitted to royal Bolton hospital on 3 occasions from 10 th July 2016 - 11 th August 2016. Note uncle not dad as he was continuely referred to.... Also his known by name was ignored. Whilst in A&E on the second occasion we heard nothing but talk about holidays, days off, when staff were & were not working.... Sorry but not acceptable! My uncle asked for a urine bottle at 06.30 and at 08.10 he was catheterised, the nurse who said would bring a bottle didn't and went off duty!!! Catheter bag was clamped off by mistake, also left on floor when should have been on a stand. On one occasion he had not been offered assistance to wash by 12.30 pm and when my 21 year old daughter enquired as to why she was advised that they were short staffed..... Not acceptable! After 4 days of being in hospital I shaved my uncle whilst an assistant looked on and told me how disgusting it was that he had not been shaved but how good a job I was doing! On the 7 th day after admission

I had to ask a bank assistant to shave my uncle & throughout the process they told me it was Monday moan day & they hoped I wasn't management as they had so many complaints! I evidenced meals & drinks left on my uncles table out of reach despite monitoring fluid balance. I have had to tell student nurses to wash my uncle after episodes of vomiting and have witnessed nurses looking at him covered in vomit , leave him and ask a health care worker to clean him up....... Approx 10 mins wait! Do nurses not have a bedside manner? Is it beneath them to "care" for their patients???

I waited up to 40 minutes at a time for my uncle to be put back to bed.... On occasions I asked the same person 3 times and was told to press the buzzer! The saying " I will ask the nurse that is looking after him" was heard time & time again along with " I am not looking after him".

surely nurses should know about every patient on the ward? 3 admissions within 4 weeks - one re admission within 48 hours of discharge.... Not acceptable & unsafe. Complaining of same symptoms on each admission but 3 different diagnosis? Oh and when discharged the second time he was sat in the discharge lounge from 08.30 until 15.10.... No wash, no shave and dressed in pj top and trousers despite having been brought in clean clothes the day before for discharge home.... Not acceptable! How on earth did CQC rate Royal Bolton a " good" ?Your standards are appalling and you should be ashamed of yourselves. Oh and one last thing ..... Just take a look at your staff..... They are scruffy and uninterested in the job they are employed to do! Anytime you would like a mystery shopper please contact me as I will only be too happy to assist!

As for my uncle..... He's still in your " care" . Unfortunately he has no confidence in your staff and neither do I ..... Very sad
