I collapsed at home with very bad stomach pains and dizziness so I called for a doctor not an ambulance as I know it's important not to ring for an ambulance if it can be helped. I dialled the 111 number and I spoke to a very nice person and after answering quite a few questions they said I'll speak to the nurse. The person then suggested I should go to hospital so an ambulance crew came out. After the ambulance crew assessed me they said I should go to hospital. When I got to the hospital's a and e department the nurse that saw me and took my bloods was very nice and helpful as was the ambulance crew to this point I had excellent treatment all the staff were very kind and helpful. I was told to wait for abdomen xray. My experience of a and e was very good then when I got called into the room by the ward sister the experience took an unexpected drastic downhill turn which completely shocked and stunned me and my sister in law who was with me. They shouted at me it's ridiculous you don't have abdomen xrays we don't do them. I said I'm sorry I don't know why I was told to have one if it's not something that is not done. They then launched into a shouting attack saying you shouldn't be here you should be at your own doctors. I said I rang for a doctor not an ambulance so they shouted why didn't you get a doctor then. I said I don't know I'm not a medical person I don't know why they recommended an ambulance instead of a doctor they then shouted abuse about the 111 service. I was in tears because of their angry temper I said please go and help someone else then so I went to find the door and I started to take the needle out of my hand I was shaking and I was repeatedly saying sorry for coming up here as according to the ward sister I shouldn't be there. They shouted at me you can't take the needle out yourself you could bleed a lot so I went back into the room so I could have my needle removed. They slammed the door and launched into another shouting attack I said sorry for being there can you please remove my needle so you can help someone else because they refused to help me and I wanted to them to help someone else as they had shouted I shouldn't be there. After pleading with the ward sister a few times to remove my needle they eventually did and was in such a temper when I asked twice for a plaster they refused. I went home because they flew in a temper so if they says it was because I chose to then that is wrong, I went home because they refused to help. If I shouldn't be there then why did the 111 service and ambulance crew say I should go to hospital. I wasn't see by a doctor till much later on because I had to go to my local doctors.I passed out when I got home. The experience of dealing with that particular ward sister has made never ever want to go to a and e ever again. If the 111 service and ambulance crew were all wrong to send me to hospital then why didn't the ward sister just calmly speak to me about it and then take up any issues they had with them.
