"Waiting for appointments"

About: Leighton Hospital / General medicine

(as the patient),

I have had a phone call today offering me an appointment tomorrow with a rheumatologist because of a cancellation. 15 minutes later another call to say the consultant has cancelled. Is it just a coincidence that it is exactly 14 weeks since my doctor referred me and I was told it would take up to 14 weeks to get an appointment! ? Does this mean I wait another 14 weeks now?

We are really sorry that the appointment you were offered was cancelled within this short timeframe.

Our aim is always to minimise the number appointments that have to be cancelled.

At the time of your referral by your GP the wait time for the rheumatology appointment will have been approximately 14 weeks. The Trust aims to review and provide an outcome for patients within 18 weeks of being referred to a Specialist. If you have not yet received your new appointment please contact the Appointment Call Centre Telephone 01270 612200 or the Customer Care Team telephone 01270 612410 who will be more than happy to help.
