My friend was admitted to the A & E department yesterday.
The staff were very kind and efficient. No one could fault the treatment offered or the thoroughness and commitment of the staff. It took 5 hours to determine her treatment and I was 20 minutes late returning to the car park because I was talking to the doctor and could not get back to renew my ticket. For this I was fined a minimum of £40. Granted there were notices warning of this fine, but the system is not suitable for the users, because most people using the hospital don't know how long they will be, or whether they will be caught up in the hospital system and unable to return.
Also, if you're rushing to A & E, it may be difficult to find correct change for the high charges, or to go to another more user friendly car park. Why don't ParkingEye install the more suitable system of pay on exit, and allow a choice of payment methods? There is a cynical answer to that question.
"Wonderful staff punitive parking"
