"Colorectal surgery at UCH"

About: University College Hospital / Gastroenterology

(as the patient),

I was admitted for surgery on a peranul fisula at the University College Hospital. I'd like to give feedback on different parts of the service.

1) I saw two nurses, the anaesthetic registrar, consultant anaesthetist and colorectal registrar before the surgery in the morning. All of these were very good and gave me the information asked of them.

2) The nurse who looked after me in the recovery room was excellent.

3) When I was admitted to the ward, the nurses were extremely busy and did not have much time for me, probably because mine was minor surgery. I would rate this average/poor.

4) The consultant colorectal surgery came to see me on the ward after the surgery and he was excellent answering all my questions and uncertainties, his name is Mr Engledow.

On the whole my experience was very good, except for waiting for three hours in the recovery room as they could not find a bed. Also, the nurse looking after me on the ward wasn’t particularly helpful, although the ward sister was.
