"I was informed of everything that was happening"

About: Queen Margaret Hospital / General Surgery

(as the patient),

I was in the day surgery unit at Queen Margaret Hospital Dunfermline hospital to have an orthopaedic procedure. From arrival until leaving I had nothing but the best treatment from all staff who were involved in my care. I was informed of everything that was happening throughout the whole day and was never left thinking "what is going on".

I can't express enough how at ease I felt because of this. Entering hospital is a bit scary for everyone and the staff in this unit do everything possible to make sure the patient is cared for properly. The do have a sense of humour as well which for me was perfect.

I informed staff that I had recently finished treatment for Hep C and had an undetectable outcome (cure). It did not change they way they reacted to me either professionally or personally. In fact the whole experience was rather like a day out!

Dear Murph,

Thank you for taking the time to post this positive feedback in relation to your expericene in our Day surgery Unit.

Esther Pow, DSU Senior Charge Nurse, would normally have responded to this directly but she is presently on annual leave. All the team will be really pleased to read your post, and I am so glad that you felt involved throughout. As you say, it can feel a bit scary coming into hospital and its great that everything went well for you on the day.

Hope you are making a good recovery.

Regards Arlene

Thank Arlene. So far so good but I know that I will have quite a long recovery process. Onwards and upwards as they say.
