"Fantastic emergency treatment and aftercare."

About: Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital

My husband was taken seriously ill in the small hours of Saturday morning. Everyone we encountered that night and since have been caring, efficient and professional. The paramedics literally saved his life, the doctors and nurses in A&E, coming to the end of a long shift, were so caring and reassuring and alert to every change in his condition. The consultant surgeon came in on a Sunday. The theatre orderly went out of their way to find us somewhere near the theatre to wait and the doctors, nurses and assistants on the gastrointestinal ward are charming, caring and hugely professional. Nothing is too much trouble and they obviously care deeply for their patients' welfare. We are fortunate that we are rarely ill and have had no need to attend hospital before but if our experience is typical then the NHS is in robust health with excellent staff and a strong ethos of care and respect for the patient.

Thank you for your feedback regarding our emergency department. It is always lovely to read encouraging comments, like yours, on the care and treatment patients and their families have received. I have shared these kind words with the teams involved, who I am sure will be delighted.
