"Hearing clinic appointments"

Why is it every time I call for an appointment to have my hearing aid repaired or serviced I get referred to the walk in clinic?

It's easier to get an appointment to see the queen than it is to get an appointment for the hearing clinic. As someone who runs their own business I can't afford to be sitting in a what is essentially a very busy clinic four hours waiting to be seen. The fixed apppointment is ideal for someone in my position, yet every time you call for an appointment it's like asking for the winning lottery Nos

Another point I have is that when I received the hearing aid for the first time I wasn't given proper instructions on how it should be cleaned, and despite having been in at the clinics several times it was only today that I got proper instructions on how my aid should be looked after

Firstly my apologies for the frustration caused by the Audiology service when you have tried to make an appointment. Our policy is that patients can choose whether they attend an open access clinic or at an alloted time in a clinic. Our helpline is designed to allow patients to call and choose what would suit them best. Unfortunately this does not appear to have happened in this instance.

It is disappointing to hear that this was not what was offered to you. I will follow this up to ensure all staff are aware of the need to offer both of the above options.

I am also saddened to hear that you weren't given adequate instructions to care for your hearing aid. All patients should be given a leaflet detailing how to use and care for their hearing aid, as well as having this explained at the time of fitting.
