About: Sunderland Royal Hospital

Arrived at 8.00 a.m. Entered the Pre - Assessment Ward Staff were welcoming and Friendly. My daughter who is Nine Was introduced to Ward nurses,Anaesthetist and Doctor who would be doing Operation.Operation's were carried out in order of age so there were three before my daughter so we went into the Play room which was well stocked with numerous Toys clean and supervised. When the time arrived for operation Pillow was collected and the walk to theatre with a lovely auxiliary Nurse. We were met by Two Theatre Nurses for the handover who were also very nice and professional Operation took about 30 mins and i could hear my daughter laughing and talking in the recovery room. She was returned to ward to have Ham and Chicken Sandwiches and Ice Cream and yoghurt. She was under Ob's for approx 2 Hours to make sure everything was fine It actually ran over two hours as the nurses had a new procedure on discharge of issuing a letter straight to Home Doctor at the same time and there were I.T.Problems nurse was apologetic for the wait but did not have to as the whole stay was good and we understand the pressure staff are under on a children's ward.
