"Surgery for Torn Retina"

About: William Harvey Hospital (Ashford)

I posted a very negative review on 20th July about the painful treatment I received from a particular eye surgeon. Having refused any further treatment from them, I asked for an alternative and I was subsequently seen by a different VR surgeon. What a difference! I was booked into the Channel Suite (day surgey centre) to repair my eye using cryotherapy. The nursing staff were wonderful and the eye examination by the VR surgeon was done with care and was completely painless. The local anaesthetic was administered with care and sympathy by a skillful consultant and although an injection into the back of the eye cannot be described as pleasant, it was virtually painless and over quickly. And not as bad as it sounds! Well done to them! The cryotherapy was then adminstered without any pain at all. The theatre staff, the recovery and the discharge nurse were all efficient, kind and made me feel as if they truly cared for my well being. An excellent treatment in the channel suite and "Well Done" to all the staff. In particular, thank you for restoring my faith in the Opthalmology department at WHH.

Dear Colin,

Thank you so much for your kind comments. I am so pleased to hear your procedure went well this time. I do hope you are recovering well.
