Overall my experience at Emersons Green was very positive. When i came for my initial outpatient visit the reception staff and nurses were helpful and polite. The HCA who tested my eyes was especially so. All staff told me their names and titles which was helpful. Unfortunately the consultant opthamoligist who saw me to discuss my surgery and consent me was less than helpful. This consultant was abrupt, didn't give any eye contact; tried to tell me that my cataract wasn't causing my loss of vision in their opinion but that I might as well have the surgery as it wouldn't do any harm. I found this quite alarming. They didn't explain the procedure to me at all. In contrast the day of my surgery was amazing, lovely friendly staff. The nurses in the cataract ward area were professional, calm and kind. The surgeon on the day was approachable, professional and skilled. Theatre staff were professionsal and I really appreciated them all being quite whilst my surgery was proceeding as I was quite anxious. I cannot praise this service enough. Thank you.
