"Car parking situation"

Really I just wanted to comment on the car park situation. My wife is pregnant and has been visiting Castle Acre regularly.

Because it is almost impossible to predict timings I am often on edge about the parking situation and whether we will get a ticket. We often overrun on expected appointment times through no fault of our own.

I think a good solution for this, and I am sure I am not the only person who has struggled with this, would be to have barriers at the exit which simply charge you for what you have used. This would also mean people would not be giving away their parking tickets.

I also have no clue what the final question in the review is asking about same sex accommodation?

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on NHS Choices about your difficulties with parking when your wife attends the hospital for her antenatal appointments. The Trust has looked at this problem continuously over the years and this has led to the many changes that have happened to date. One of the proposals has been to install an exit barrier scheme but we have been advised that at the moment with our current layout and parking arrangements this would not be feasible. However, it does remain as a possible solution for the future and I am sure will be considered again. I am sorry that you have had a number of appointments that have overrun and have left you concerned about your parking ticket. We recently altered our payment charges to provide greater flexibility so that you can purchase additional parking time in one hour allocations so that people can give themselves a safety margin without incurring excessive charges. I hope that future appointments do not cause you the same level of anxiety about parking.

In relation to that extra question that you were asked by NHS Choices when you posted your comment, this relates to one of our targets to always offer people accommodation with other patients of the same gender, this would not apply to your experience in an outpatient setting and certainly not in maternity!
