"elderly care"

I intend to make a formal complaint about my mother's care , hospital probably ok for other things but if you are elderly generally very poor, emphasis basically on keeping you breathing other than that no importance placed on keeping mobile or treating people as individuals treated as just old .In my mothers case when i stressed importance of when she was given insulin as it affected her dementia Dr said we don't worry too much about that in hospital. Left sitting in chair and basically ignored. Unless it was meals or she uses buzzer.Told father she was incontinent , no just can't wait 15 min for someone to bother .Not lack of staff checked on web site ward fully staffed.If you are over 80 regular mobility is essential or become bed bound, it needs to done from day one not when they have been through all the paper work, meetings care plans etc , too late. It was 4 days before my mother saw a physio. surely with the high number of elderly on the island they should know better, its not surprising there are no nursing home beds available they can rely on the hospital to keep them full. St Mary's not the only hospital had similar experience with southampton general.
