After hurting my knee I had to visit A&E on 2 occasions and the Orthopedic department once. Each time I was so impressed with the service provided especially when my treatment had to go across departments with one department being able to make my appointment with another there and then. My whole experience can be summed up by one incident where I had a suspected blood clot and was being referred to the "Blood Clot Nurses" (I'm sure they have a more professional title than this). They were fully booked that day so my appointment was made for 2 days later and I was given a prescription for some injections that I would have to take in the mean time. Off I went to the Pharmacy to get the syringes and while waiting the 2 nurses came and found me having found a window in their morning so off I went with them and 10 minutes later was being sent home without the need for the injections as they had reviewed the results of my "Bloods" and asked me a few questions and were happy I was not at risk. They could have had a cup of tea and put their feet up but they came and found me and saved me having to inject myself for a couple of days and the expense of this medication and of course me having to come back to the hospital again. This was typical of the whole place, I was really very impressed.
"A really joined up service with excellent staff"
