"Shiny new hospital, half the nurses"

About: Altrincham General Hospital

How we miss the old hospital, with it's bank of efficient blood taking nurses. Half the staff, double the queue, closed today to patients over an hour before its scheduled close. Don't believe the website saying 'come in the afternoon'. Go first thing. Be prepared for a long wait.

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to learn that your experience was not as positive as we would hope.

Please accept our apologies for the early closure of the phlebotomy clinic on the day of your attendance and for the inconvenience this caused you. The Operational Manager for Altrincham Hospital explains that if patient numbers are too great, sometimes the tickets are removed and as no new patients can be seen. This is to ensure the department is able to close at a reasonable time.

We understand that the department has been short staffed on occasion due to brief periods of short term illness and maternity leave absence. Please be assured that the Altrincham Hospital Management team are putting actions in place to address the short falls with the aim of maintaining an efficient phlebotomy service.

If you would like to discuss this with us in more detail, please feel free to contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service on 0161 276 8686 or by e-mailing pals@cmft.nhs.uk
