Having waited 7 months post surgery for a follow up appointment to see the Neurosurgeon I am now on a further waiting list for a nerve block injection! The surgeon said that they would write to the Radiographer to seek their advice and this would all happen fairly swiftly. I contacted the surgeon's secretary 2 weeks later to be told that there was a 6 weeks wait at the typing pool and they couldn't confirm where or when I'd receive my referral. I've called the secretary and left my name and number but am still waiting for a reply. Not a very efficient service :(

Dear Anonymous – I was very sorry to read of the failure to provide a post-operative follow-up appointment, or to adequately explain if this, as is sometimes the case, is not required. I am aware of the typing delays in Neurosurgery, and understand that this is being addressed and has reduced recently; however, further recruitment is underway to ensure the service is returned to normal.

Regrettably without more details I cannot specifically initiate an investigation into the concerns you have raised.

To allow us to assist you, please contact the Advice and Complaints Team (ACT) by emailing complaints@nbt.nhs.uk quoting reference “NHSC37”.

Please provide your date of birth, address and if you have it your hospital number and ACT will take up the issue of your wait for a post-operative follow-up appointment.

I apologise for the unsatisfactory service you have been provided with and I look forward to receiving your email so ACT can provide the assistance necessary to assist you.
