I would like to raise my concerns over the manner in which my daughter was treated. She visited A and E last night via an ambulance with excruciating pain due to fibroids and periods of heavy bleeding. She was left standing in a very busy pre-assessment unit. It was only as she felt dizzy and faint that she was given a computer chair to sit on outside the toilet area. When I arrived she was crying and curled up in pain sitting on a computer chair. There was no privacy or dignity for her at all. Yes the unit was packed and the staff were very busy but there was no empathy shown to her whatsoever. I understand that it is a triage system and my daughter had to wait her turn. It is the manner in which she was left to wait her turn that is the concern. She was constantly up being sick from the medication she had been given from the paramedics and had no dignity whatsoever...she was in extreme pain for 3 hours left on a computer chair outside the toilets. There is no privacy for other patients either we could here staff discussing their needs also. I understand that this is a period of transition for A and E but this should not be at the detriment of its patients. For my daughters dignity and comfort she should have been in a private room on a bed or at the very least a proper chair. I understand that doctors and nurses work long hours in extremely busy conditions but this is the profession they have chosen. I can honestly say they looked as though they did not care less about her. Not once was there any concern shown for the conditions she was sitting in or any up dates given. I had to ask if they thought she would be seen soon and the answer I got was that shes 5th to be seen. Reflection on practice is very much needed as I would not have left an animal in those conditions.
"A and E is Appalling."
