"A Thank You"

About: Derriford Hospital

I woke around 5am on Sunday morning with furniture appearing to fall on me, the room spinning, the window swaying my bed was tilting.

I was sweating profusely before being violently ill both ends.

On arrival of paramedics I was given a drug to stop me being sick.

I was taken very quickly to A&E.

The staff there were concious they seemed to have two very different DOB's for me!

I had so may tests during my 22 hours stay.

Bloods, swabs, urine, stool, chest x-ray.

I had 4 litres of fluids. I was moved into Tavy for assessment in an isolation room. Then to Hound ward.

Everyone was so gentle and caring.

Catering to Cleaning staff were thorough and happy to chat. Nurses and carers alike were so kind.

Although no definate virus was found to be the cause.

I know everything was done to check.

I want to say a huge thank you to every single person.

We have a truly wonderful NHS service.

Long may it continue.

Dear Anne

Thank you for taking the time to share your recent experiences of the care you received from our Emergency Department, Tavy and Hound Wards. As we make every effort to provide the highest standard of care and treatment at all times, it was lovely to read your positive comments.

I will ensure a copy of your post is shared through the Matrons and Ward Sisters responsible for each area, including our housekeeping team who are employed under SERCO. Comments of support and thanks are so important to our staff and I know they will be very grateful to read your positive comments.

I would really like to look into the issue your mentioned about your two dates of birth on your records. Patient Opinion comments are anonymous so if you would like to get in touch with me please email me directly at claire.jukes@nhs.net so I can look into this for you.

With best wishes
