My daughter attended Royal Alexandra Hospital last week to have 6 teeth removed under general anesthetic. My daughter has Downs Syndrome and Autism. The nurses on the day surgery ward were lovely especially Caroline. They allowed my daughter to walk to the theatre in her own clothes and she was only asked to get up on the bed in the anesthetic room 2 minutes before the procedure. The anesthetist Mr. Jeffries wafted the anesthetic under my daughters nose until she drifted off to sleep. We have previously attended other hospitals where my daughter would have had to get into a gown, be taken in her bed to theatre, have anesthetic delivered with a mask over her face. This often resulted in increased anxiety for my daughter manifesting itself in a look of terror on her face. The thoughtfulness of the care delivered by the staff at RAH was so appreciated and made what could have been a nightmare experience much more bearable. Please thank the staff.
"Thoughtful care"
