The NHS gets so much bad press so I would like to give my congratulations to the management and staff of the QMC eye department for the quality of service that they provide.
I visited the eye casualty department at 12 noon last Wedenesday because I was losing some sight in my right eye. I was assesed within an hour and told I had a detached retina. Within an hour I was seen by Mr Orr the eye consultant and team. They were excellent and put me at ease regarding the opration I needed next morning.
I returned to the QMC at 7-30am the next morning in a very nervous state to have my retina reattached. The staff were wonderful and put me at ease. The anaesthetist was a lovely gentleman who suggested I should have the operation done with a local rather than general anaesthetic. I was very nervous about this option but I am so glad that I took his advice as there was no pain.
By lunch time I was on my way home!
The department seems to be very well managed with everything "joined" up to produce a professional and relaxed atnosphere.
"Tremendous Service at the eye department"
