I am a 53 year old female. I am very active. I enjoy cycling, walking and have a home gym where I work out every day. I had right hip replacement surgery about 6 weeks ago. The reason I required a hip replacement is that I suffer from osteo arthritis.
The surgery was done at Bournemouth Hospital on the Derwent Ward. The surgery went very well and I am extremely pleased with the result. The surgeonspent time before the op advising me of what to expect from the surgery and my recovery. Because I am a young active person the surgeon referred me for physiotherapy which I had at Wimborne Hospital. The surgeon monitored my recovery while in hospital and visited often. I can’t give enough praise to surgeon, doctors and staff on the Derwent ward. The level of care I received exceeded my expectations. They could not do enough to ensure that I was comfortable and well cared for. My single room was large and comfortable. Being able to look out the window and see the lake, ducks, rabbits and other wildlife contributed greatly to my desire for a quick recovery. Before the surgery I was in a great deal of pain, unable to do most forms of exercise and gaining weight due to the inability to exercise. I am now completely pain free and nearly back to the activity levels I achieved several months before the op. My friends and family are amazed at my recovery.
