I could not fault the care I received from the delivery suite and theatre staff. However the very moment of the birth of our baby - and our music selection, which I will never listen to again - will forever be synonymous with the consultant shouting for the music to be turned down. We feel we should have been informed beforehand that our consultant did not like music to be played in theatre. We fully understand that the consultant has a huge responsibility, but remembering that you are dealing with human beings is important in all circumstances. We also felt it belittled other present staff members (although in hindsight we can't understand why they just didn't turn the music down when first asked). I couldn't fault the other care received, although of course the postnatal ward was obviously very short-staffed as anticipated. I was very reluctant to call for help.
