"Family Day out"

About: Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital

Ok so a trip to an emergency hospital isn't top of our family days out to do list but that is what we were faced with today.

On the plus side admission and parking are free.

From arrival at 9 am we were treated well and dad triaged within the hour, the thing about going to emergency department is you don't know how bad things are, the staff did everything possible to allay fears that dads chest pains weren't serious, once heart tracings done we were all aware we had to sit back and go with the flow.

The porters who moved us around were polite and helpful and very mindful that my mams pace was a lot slower than theirs and they slowed down to accommodate this so thank you.

The doctor and the surgeon were very thorough and left us knowing more about our anatomy than before.

And all of the healthcare and nursing staff were very friendly and attentive.

So although 8 hours in hospital wasn't our choice your staff made it bearable and we leave secure in the knowledge that you will fix Dad over the coming days. Thank you all in Emergency and Ward 15.

Dear Sir/Madam,

I’m sorry that your dad has needed to use our emergency care service, I can imagine it was the last thing you wanted to do. Is he starting to feel better? I am pleased that your father was looked after so well by our various teams.

I’ll forward your thoughtful comments to everyone involved in looking after your dad. Our kind portering staff will be delighted to know they did everything they could to accommodate the needs of your family.

As your father continues to receive care from us I would like to wish him and your family all the very best.

Kindest regards,

Annie
