"Wonderful staff , thank You"

About: Princess Alexandra Hospital (Harlow)

Please can you pass on my appreciation to that wonderful staff that looked after me at PAH yesterday for a Hysteroscopy under general aneasthetic. The aneathetists, surgeons and nursing staff of Nettleswell Admissions , Theatre, Recovery and Tye Green Ward were professional , kind , caring and helpful. They did everything to try and and re-assure , providing imprtant information and respond to queries where they could. The trainee nurse on Nettleswell yesterday was particulalry reassuring and helpful. Everything appeared to go well with the exeption of not being transferred to a bed following recovery , something that the nursing staff seemed quite concerned about. I returned from theatre and was fully concious by 11.10am and about an hour later was transferred onto a trolley with a thicker matteress and was advised that they were just waiting to transfer me when a bed became available on a Ward. The staff in Recovery were very attentive and apologetic for the delay as it was 13.45pm before I was transferred to Tye Green Ward. I was advised at this point that no more day patients were being transferred to beds and that we were to remain on our trolleys , the nursing staff on the ward also expressed concern about this and referred to it having happened on another recent occassion . They clearly had difficulty in operating the differnet controls on the trolleys. From a personal perspective , a bed would have been preferable and more comfortable but I do appreciate it would have only been used for a short period of about two and a half hours , as this was theamount of time that I spent on the Ward. There was an unused bed in the Bay for the entirety of my stay but I appreciate that it may have been kept for an emergency admission or someone coming in after I left who may have been in greater need than myself . Finally , a suggestion , it would have been really helpful before being discharged to be able to speak to someone who could explain the differences between the discharge information and that which I had been told prior to the procedure , particulalry as it states no hystology ( as I was told I was having a biopsy) and no follow up appointment , I can only assume that this is good news?
