I have a variety of complex mental health issues on top of being autistic. The hospital staff seemed super vague about where I was supposed to meet the therapist and didn't seem to know much which is worrying coming from hospital staff. I was kept waiting for an extremely long time for the therapist to show up who, on looking at the text, had a female name. It was only when the therapist showed up over an hour late that I realised the therapist was male which I specifically didn't want. The therapist, to his credit, tried to call into someone to sort out a proper appointment with a female therapist for me but got nowhere. I was told I'd be rung which I was by a very passive-aggressively rude person who clearly had no clue on how to speak to mentally ill people in distress. I was told I'd be made a priority case and would get an appointment in the next week. This, of course, didn't happen. I instead got a letter 6 weeks after offering an appointment with someone whose name wasn't disclosed. I've completely lost all trust in this service so I told them that frankly I'd rather get assistance from my pet dog than a service that doesn't know its backside from its elbow. It's unfortunate as mental health services are so thin on the ground thanks to needless austerity and it's not as if there are many places able to handle autistic people with mental health issues. For now I'm okay but that won't last forever and I'm genuinely scared of what may happen if my mental health crashes again.
