"Diagnosed kidney stones after severelower back..."

About: Broomfield Hospital

After suddenly developing severe lower back pain at home and after advice from gp that I should attend A&E should the pain become unbearable we attended broomfield A&E. Was given frosty reception as to why we were there and we should have been referred despite the fact I was in severs pain. Was told referrals time were quite good 6 weeks. I don't think anybody could put up with 6 weeks of kidney stones pains so caring !!! Great start. After numerous test was diagnosed with a 15mm kidney stone. Admission to Emergency Surgery Ward, I will mention that no one at this time had told us why I was being taken there, as you can imagine quite a worrying experience? On arrival at the ward the sister also told us they didn't know why we were there and we would have to wait to see a consultant. 2 hrs left in corridor worried to death. This being Friday 10th June. Finally saw a junior doctor and

Was told a eurethic stent was going to be fitted and that would move stone out of way to remove pain. Nil by mouth kept getting moved with a period if no food constantly being prolonged because of ever changing theatre times. This procedure was finally carried out on Sunday evening at 8pm a 15 minute procedure. The stone was not removed and initially told about 3 weeks for follow up up lazer treatment. No discharge details as to what to expect next. Subsequently

I have now visited my gp on so many occasions after this stent was fitted in severe pain and stinging sensations, this now being on a daily basis and is really debilitating .

Been treated for water infections and antibiotics and to top this off am no closer to getting any idea as to when this follow up procedure will remove stone. It has been 6 weeks to the day and with no reply from my surgeon after email a week ago and no letter of an appointment. I am at my end of my tether with this and find it quite shocking as to now bad this service is. Communication is key to patients and the urology unit is sadly lacking and desperately needs improving.

Look forward to hearing from you.
