I took my 5 months baby to the A&E department following the advice from my health visitor as her eczema got significantly worse, with broken skin, blisters and blood and has been severely distressed and constantly crying. Sadly the doctor sent me back to see her GP and said they won't prescribe any medication as that was the job of the GP.
The doctor was more concerned about saying why that should be dealt by the GP (regardless the nurse admitted us after seeing the baby!) and the doctor even said that 4 days of waiting till I get the appointment should be nothing major as my baby was been unwell and suffering eczema for 2 months anyway... Why didn't this doctor do something for my baby that day if they have the skills to make her better?? Why didn't they show some empathy for a suffering child if they could have done something about it??
Also they said they didn't really care we waited for 5 hours before being able to be seen as waiting times don't apply to A&E... Why hasn't this doctor showed more empathy and said at least they were sorry we needed to wait for so long, specially with a crying baby and in a very hot day?? This doctor started the consultation giving their opinion on the eczema without even examining the baby who was 1 metre away and still in her buggy ... How on earth can they do that?? I needed to prompt them to examine the baby.
On top of that the baby cried during the appointment, the doctor showed no empathy at all, never tried to speak to the baby, calm her down, nothing... Please can you have better professionals than this, especially with children - one of the most vulnerable groups.
