"Terrible experience for terminally ill patient"

My father was admitted to West Suffolk hospital on Monday.

He has terminal cancer and an ambulance had to be called because he was struggling to breathe.

The ambulance crew were terrible with a paramedic who was suffering from either a cold or hay fever - my father has no immune system and so it was distressing that this paramedic was constantly sniffing and blowing their nose.

My father asked some questions which were flat out ignored.

Very rude member of the team, who moaned about being allergic to dogs with no thought to the patient.

Hospital was under staffed. No consistency of doctors - a different one every day with different views on treatment.

Nurses were lovely but overworked whilst junior doctors stood around a computer laughing and joking.

Wards were unbearably hot with no air conditioning and one fan for six bays.

So bad that when my poor father did come home he burst into tears and vowed never to go back.

I realise that finances are tight but when you are supposed to be helping someone at the end of their lives, a greater standard of care is expected.
