"Over night stay ward 14 (10th - 11th July)"

About: Barnsley Hospital

I was sent to ward 14 from the out of hours Gp services, admittedly it was a long wait overall but when you consider the amount of ladies at all different stages of pregnancy and with all different needs you can't expect any different. As an extremely nervous patient in all cases, bloods are a nightmare for me and to be told I'm being admitted is extremely emotional and brings panic and anxiety. The staff on the ward (although stretched to capacity as we were told on booking in) were wonderful. I'm sure they didn't have as much time with the patients as they'd have liked but I was checked on regularly and they were kind, compassionate and extremely helpful. I'm sure it's very easy when on the ward to want to be waited on hand and foot and have all your needs met but it's not always manageable and certainly not the fault of any individual member of staff. One nurse had come from a shift on one ward straight to a shift on ward 14 still with a smile on their face and time to get me and others sorted. My partner was offered drinks and biscuits when I was and was equally as happy with the service from everyone. I'm sorry I don't remember names of individual staff as I would have loved to personally mention them all. Everyone should give themselves a huge pat on the back they do an amazing job considering the lengths they are stretched to anyone who manages to keep a smile on their face in those pressurised situations deserves recognition. Well done night and morning staff off Sunday 10th and Monday 11th July 16
