"COPD with a chest infection visit"

About: Weymouth Community Hospital

My husband has COPD but was struggling to breathe much more than usual so although we live nearer to Dorchester, we decided to visit the new Weymouth Urgent Care Centre for help.

Our experience of the service is top notch.

The Reception staff are incredibly efficient and so helpful and approachable which made booking in an easy process.

This is so important when you have health concerns and just want to know that you are going to be seen and taken care of.

The Triage nurse was amazing in their ability to put our minds at rest as they explained what they were doing with the tests they carried out, what the results meant and what would be happening next.

Their job cannot be easy as each patient must come in with different symptoms and injuries and they have to evaluate them all.

Their patience and caring manner though are so evident.

We were referred on to the Nurse Practioner and again they were brilliant.

They have a very calming caring manner and their knowledge seems to know no bounds!

They took further tests and discussed as they were going along what they were finding, what the implications were and what our options were.

They listened to what my husband was telling them and heard more than I did in that time - I was just hearing the facts but it was obvious that they were processing them.

They discovered that the one tablet my husband had been prescribed by our GP, he was taking incorrectly and this may have led to the problems he was experiencing.

He now takes them as this doctor directed! The prescription they gave my husband has really seemed to have done the trick and i am so grateful to the whole team for the caring, efficient service we received last night.

I only wish there were more of these centres and am so grateful that we live fairly close to this one.
