Having had a surgical abortion this morning i can honestly say it has been a very positive experience considering the really difficult decision not to continue with the pregnancy. I had a consultation and the staff were very friendly, none judgemental and very sympathetic. This put me at ease. Already having 3 children, it was not an option for our family to go through with this pregnancy. I am 38 and had my first at 18 and my youngest is 5. I have spend most of my life having/looking after kids. Today i had my procedure and i felt at ease from the start. All the staff were lovely. They explained everything. I sat in a waiting area full of ladies in my situation. I was called through within 5 mins and then another 5 mins i was then taken upstairs to be prepared for my op. I had 5 mins to come around afterwards and was quickly asked if i felt ok to get dressed. I did. I then went downstairs and had tea and toast. I was then called into waiting room no2. For literally 2mins before being called in to check how i was and to give me antibiotics. I felt fine apart from a headache and abit of bleeding. I was 10 weeks and 3 days pregnant. I was given the all clear to go home and rest and told to call them if i had amy problems. I would recommend bpas to anyone that finds themselves in this situation. The whole turnaround was fast and efficient. Xx
