"Care under cunsultant"

About: Tameside General Hospital

I was referred in September last year to a consultant in Gynaecology. Was seen in mid January and sent an ultrasound scan. We (yes I was involved in decisions every step of the way) decided to remove my mirena coil and do some endometrial biopsies. took a while to get a date as we were waiting for a phone call. The consultants

Secretary kept me upto date with what was happening. I was admitted on 30th june at 7.30am and was told I would be seen by the Registrar and Anaesthetist prior to my procedure. I was 1st on the list at 8.30am and was on the Womens Health Unit ward by 10am. Was given a drink and offered some toast but said I would wait until lunchtime. Took my regular painkillers and then felt really nauseous but, as soon as I asked for it, the Nurse brought me some anti-sickness. My blood pressure etc were checked regularly to make sure I was stable. The food at lunchtime was really good - didn't eat much but actually enjoyed what I ate. I had to stay overnight due to living on my own and the Staff Nurse that was on nights brought me a cup of tea when I woke up at 4am for painkillers. I was discharged home the next morning with feeling totally fine having been assured that all went well and they actually didn't need to do any biopsies. Would not hesitate to see this consultant again and to recommend them to anyone else that needs to see a Gynaecologist. Thank you & team and all the Staff on the WHU
