I had to call an ambulance because I was finding it hard to breathe. I had a lobectomy then a pneumonectomy (removal of lung) due to lung cancer caused by smoking, in July 2014. My husband died of lung cancer January 2014.
I was in a 2 bed room and was horrified when another patient went into the bed next to me and immediately asked if they could go down for a cigarette.
Whilst they went I asked the nurse if I could be moved because of their smoking.
They came back smelling of smoke. I again asked if I could be moved to be told there was nowhere to move me. I decided because of that to go home.
Where are my rights to a smoke free room within a hospital?
"My right to have smoke free room"
