"i went in Royal blackburn hospital ..."

About: Royal Blackburn Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

i went in Royal blackburn hospital at this time, due to a fall hurting my right leg, which became infected. i was put on ward (21) i think, it was all elderly patients, i had to have atibiotics direct into my vain, day and night. Very often the nurses would forget to do the right amount of doses, in which case the night staff would catch up with the required doses, , twice the medican dripped onto the floor instead of going in my vain, because the nurse had not attached the drip correctly, i was in this ward for 4 days, and not ones did they change the location of the drip, apparently, this need to be done at least every 24 hours, to stop blocking. I was able to get up and tend to my own needs, however ther were elderly people in the ward who were recovering from hip and leg opps, who needed help going to the loo ect, on ringing there bussers, the nurses were 40 miniuts awnsering, It was a shambles, the nurses were rude, acted as though they hated there job, i always thought nursing was a vocation, apparently there only in it for a living these days. After 4 days of that ward i was transfered to another ward, which i have to say was great, staff friendly, who appeared to be proper nurses, wards were as clean as any busy hospital can be that has constant traffic of people. So on the whole blackburn hospital appears okay, its just the few nurses who give it a bad name, . I have to say in same areas the cleanliness was not upto scratch, but then if your going into hospital it is always advisable to take alongbug killing ajents, that way you can be shaw hopefully that you, yourself are safe from most of the killer bugs, that love hanging around our hospitals.

What could be improved

better quality of nurses, better quality of cleaning, when employing staff one must always remember, that "you get what you pay for" pay for rubbish you get rubbish, it is not the best policy to go for cheapest quote. Also leave nurse free to do nursing and employ a suitable person to do all the stuff that nurses seem to do, hanging around computors for ages in groups. Nurses seem to spend as much time on the ward comutor as they do on nursing, there nurses, not, IT workers.
