"My wife"

About: Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh at Little France / Trauma and Orthopaedics Western General Hospital (Edinburgh)

(as a relative),

My wife had a bad knee and I phoned for our doctor and she came in the morning had a look and said my wife would have to go to the Royal infirmary.

She was there until two days after I made the initial call until she was transfered to the Western General, I was told by phone the approx time she would leave

I made my way to the hospital to meet her but the ambulance had not arrived an hour and a half after the time I was given. I left and returned the next day and I was told the ambulance did not arrive until five and a half hours later than planned.

My wife was sent there to get physiotherapy on her leg, everything was going great up and everyone was happy with the way she was getting better, and it was almost near time she was getting home until one night she needed to go to the toilet and she fell and fractured her arm in two places.

I recieved a call telling me about it with not much detail

And it was two later I was told the full story of what happened.

Before the accident my wife was put in a chair and left, the only time she sees any of the nurses is when she needs a hand to go to the toilet.

It seemed like no nurses or doctors ever goes to speak to any of the patients relatives about what is happening with the patient.

Now I learnt that my wife fell off the chair and landed on her rear end no harm done.

It would be helpful if the nursing staff were to look in on the patients now and again say every couple of hours.
