My mother has an appointment with the podiatrist towards the end of July, I have phoned Locala a couple of times to find out if she could be treated at home or if transport to the podiatrist is available but no one has got back to me. I myself have some health problems and cannot get my mother to the health centre, she cannot get there by herself so really needs home treatment or transport provided.

I’m really disappointed no one has come back to me, we’ve waited a while for the appointment and don’t want to lose / cancel it as my mother’s to nails really need to be cared for. Is patient transport available?

I am sorry you've not had a reply to your message about transport to our podiatry clinic. I will speak to the team involved and find out why they did not respond.

We do not offer transport for patients but there is local organisation called Community Connections who run a scheme called Travel Companions where volunteer drivers will take people to appointments for a small donation. It might be worth considering getting in touch, their number is 0300 800 0021.

To qualify for a home visit patients need to be classed as housebound which means they are simply unable to leave the house to receive their care. Being classed as housebound would mean you are unable to leave the house for things such as visits to the GP and shopping.

I hope you are able to find a solution.
