My husband has just returned home after a short stay in Blackburn hospital.
The surgeon saw him in clinic last Wednesday and performed a liver resection by keyhole surgery for a secondary liver cancer on Monday and he was home and doing very well yesterday.
The whole process was swift and efficient which was much appreciated as we had been waiting and worrying for weeks while all the scans and tests were completed at Royal Preston.
All the staff and nurses involved in my husband's care were wonderful and so kind, particularly in the POCU part of Critical Care.
All parts of the hospital we visited, both before and during his stay were spotless and everything ran very efficiently.
When I collected him yesterday afternoon all his medication was ready and had been for some time.
We have a lot of experience of Royal Preston Hospital as we live nearby and my husband had major bowel surgery there 3 years ago.
The team are marvellous and he always received the best possible care but unfortunately, the same could not always be said for some of the wards he stayed on there.
I also have experience of waiting at Royal Preston with other family members for medication to be ready before they could leave and this usually takes many hours of sitting in a discharge lounge before it appears.
So, in summary, a big thumbs up to you all for your kindness, care, efficiency and cleanliness. Kind regards, Norma King
"Excellent care"
