"Can't fault nurses/receptionists, but treatment..."

About: Leicester General Hospital

Have had back and neck pain constantly since end of 2013, my Leicester GP wouldn't refer me, but when I moved to Melton in 2014 and got a new GP I decided to try again.

In short I have had a similar experience to another anonymous reviewer.

At first, all the GP would do was recommend physio, and I had 1 good and 1 very bad time of this at the local medical centre.

My generous customers paid for me to have a private consultation (May 2015), and I was given a diagnosis of facet joint syndrome in neck and back. It felt like there was hope!

Back to GP (felt guilty relying on my customers purses to go private), referred to the General, Pain Management - eventually got there by

Sept 2015 - after going down the TENS (made back worse) acupuncture (lovely nurse, neck temporarily better, not back) management course (so long waiting that I gave up) eventually had what I thought was to be the injections that private person recommended but turned out to be trigger point injections (Dec 2015) - no relief at all.

Tried GP again, referred to Orthopaedic (May 2016) - eventually had a very aggressive, condescending and belittling triage appointment which left me furious, upset and let down, and again the advice seemed to be "the nerve block injections don't work and you'll just have to live with the pain" (not even the offer to try?).

The appointment was full of what they couldn't do - and they pooh-poohed the private diagnosis (your x-ray is normal" but the private man said it may not show on an x-ray) - very unprofessional.

After a couple of letters to the General complaining about this appointment, I have now had one referring me to another doctor - but they appear to be in Pain Management again??

I feel like I'm being given the run around, and my back is getting worse.

As with the other review (which spurred me on to write this) it seems all anyone at the General wants to try to do is alleviate pain, (and they've not succeeded so far...) but not to do anything to investigate what is causing it.

I realise back pain is difficult to diagnose, but no-one seems to take on board the diagnosis I have had!

Heaven knows what this new referral will bring - I have been nearly two years getting this far, and I'm still in constant pain.
