"Angioplasty mistake"

About: University Hospital Ayr / General Medicine

(as the patient),

I had an angioplasty done in Ayr Hospital last year on my upper leg and after it was done I always felt that it was not successful due to the same problem recurring after a few months. I then was told I needed another xray to determine what was causing the recurrence and to my astonishment the procedure did not cover the area it was supposed to and in fact was in the wrong place. Now its getting redone and hopefully they will give me an xray on completion to make sure its done in the proper place this time, so sometimes even outpatients can suffer mistakes as well.

I respond initially to most of the posts and ensure they are passed to the appropriate team whether they are compliments, observations or grumbles. It is important to make sure all issues are addressed and I try to encourage that to happen for all the posts as required.

Dear danimac136,

I am really sorry to hear about your concerns following your angioplasty. An angioplasty can be done via different pathways and I was unsure which one applied to you so I have spoke to the Assistant Director for Ayr Hospital. He would like to look into this for you. Can I encourage you to contact me on 01563 826222 or Mr John Swiatczak, on 01292 617126 so we can establish what has been happening?

Thank you for taking the time to share your story.

Kind regards,

Eunice
