My husband was taken to Leighton hospital following a seizure early in the morning. The paramedic and ambulance staff were attentive and supportive. I arrived at the hospital to be informed that a CT scan had already taken place along with many other tests. The emergency unit monitored him regularly. We were given sad news with empathy and understanding and told what would happen next. He was eventually moved to AMU unit where the monitoring and care continued. All staff behaved with respect, gave us support and answered my probing questions when they could. The one thing that was difficult for us both was when we were moved from a treatment bay into the public area in front of the desk which happened because the corridor was full of patients waiting to be attended to. Clearly this cannot be attributed to the hospital as demand for services is impossible to gauge but in the circumstances it may have been appropriate to give us privacy to digest the news we had been given. We both extend our heartfelt thanks to all staff, nursing, doctors, support, tea makers and cooks etc. You all do a great job under huge pressure with too little recognition.
