About: Scottish Ambulance Service / Patient Transport Service

(as the patient),

Cancelled transport for an appointment to get open wounds treated and redressed and new plaster cast on my shattered leg.

Ambulance people phoned at 2pm Wednesday for an 8 o’clock pick up the following morning to be taken into Forth Valley Royal Hospital.

I am extremely sorry to hear of the challenges you have been facing when accessing the Patient Transport Service and I am grateful for you taking the time to share your experiences of this service.

I recognise the essential role that the Patient Transport Service plays in supporting patients attend hospital as part of their ongoing care and treatment. Therefore, I can fully understand your frustrations regarding not being able to attend your appointment at the Forth Valley Royal Hospital due to issues with Patient Transport, as this appointment clearly had an important role to play in your ongoing treatment.

We strive to provide the highest possible standard of service to all our patients; therefore I am very disappointed to hear this has not been your experience of the service. I want to ensure that your transport arrangements are in place for any future appointments you may have and also so I can understand the reasons behind your transport request being cancelled.
