"Patients Dietry Requirements + Results of Scans..."

About: Bristol Royal Infirmary

Reference: Mrs Gwyneth Parker (02.02.28)

Ward: C705 Bed 12

Admitted: 25.06.16.

Whilst the care of my mother by the nursing staff on Ward C705 is exemplary, all other aspects or her care have failed miserably!

Two staff members however have been brilliant.

I appreciate my mothers diet is unusual due to being diabetic + other compounded problems, but your handling of her dietary requirements, are quite frankly shambolic!

Friday's lunchtime meal being the best! Mashed potato & green beans! Nothing else, just this, as no meat was available which did not have a coating of some description on it!

Feel sure you would be delighted to have had this dished up as your main meal?

To be fair to the nursing staff, they went down to the shops and got her a ham sandwich, so that this could be taken out of the sandwich to make up a meal. This I find unbelievable and someone should be accountable for this disgusting service.

She is with you to get well, but every day is a fight, just to get a decent meal inside them, which she desperately needs to build her strength up!

I can only assume you do not have kitchens, but just food preparation areas and if your dietary requirements do not meet what's on the daily menu then you are stuffed!

So, please get a grip and sort this out! This sadly is the 5th time my mother has been with you this year and every time you have failed miserably to feed her with what she requires.

Sunday's afternoon tea (03.07) was also a joke, this was delivered mid morning and consisted of a yogurt. Sorry this should be refrigerated until required, not sat on the bedside table for at least 5 hours before being consumed. For Gods sake get some real kitchens installed where preparation can be done on site and not brought in by the likes of Compass, etc. (Yes I have worked in the catering industry for a number of years.)

My next gripe is the doctor assigned to her, but my mother maintains she has never met?

My mother had a body scan last Tuesday (28.06) to establish what was wrong with her.

6 days later we are still waiting for the results of this scan! I have put out a call today for someone to contact me and more importantly my mother.

I have spoken to my mother again today and once again she is very depressed, as she is unable to get answers to simple questions?

I have therefore taken matters into my own hands and am arranging for her to be transferred to Alvony House in Clevedon for respite care as she seems to be going from bad to worst in your care and I feel the quicker I get her moved the better for her own health.
