It is just six months since my operation; and I am, to all practical purposes, fully recovered. ... Today, therefore, seems a good one to thank the surgeon and team for the astonishing work that they do.
I was relatively fit and healthy until Autumn 2015, when I suddenly started to suffer Angina. Prompt action by my GP, and the local Hospitals, resulted in a referal to Wythenshawe.
The months of November through January were [quite frankly] frightening; as I felt myself getting progressively weaker.
My operation was postponed twice in January [due to the inevitable and unpredictable pressures on the Critical Care Unit], but I was finally admitted on 31-Jan-2016, and my Surgery took place on Monday 01-February. ... The whole process was [from my viewpoint at least] astonishingly efficient, and I have the greatest admiration for those involved.
I was fortunate to have my leg vein removed endoscopically, and to have a wonderful surgeon operating on my heart ... It is quite impossible to thank these people enough: Quite simply, this team has given me whatever remains of my life.
The final pleasant surprise was that, by Saturday evening, I was sufficiently recovered to go home in a Taxi. ... It almost defies belief that these miracles have become 'routine'.
Thank You All
