I visited Southmead for foot surgery and overall very impressed.
Smooth running and great service by everyone from moment I arrived. Arrived but early so went in early. Nice private room where I was visited by nurse, surgeon, physio and anaesthetist. They all answered any questions I had and made me feel very calm. They were running a little late for theatre which they apologised for but kept me updated. Nice area to wait with tv.
Nurse that looked after me in recovery was particularly lovely.
The only thing I would have a slight complaint about is the information you get when you leave. There is a standard leaflet about after surgery but not anything specific to your type of surgery. I understand this wouldn't be possible for everything but I was very sleepy afterwards so can't really remember a lot of advice I was given. I would suggest that you take in pen and paper and ask for anything you need to remember to be jotted down.
I've had a few visits leading up to surgery and apart from one which was running late, they have all been good, even early if I've arrived early. Hospital seems to be running well.
