(as the patient),

I attended a&e on Tuesday morning after a referral from my gp, upon arriving in pain that words cannot describe I was promptly taken through to a cubical, within moments I was seen by an a&e doctor who introduced himself as Sam. His professional friendly caring attitude cannot be praised enough, the speed in which he managed my pain and continued to monitor me was outstanding. York should be very proud of our hospital staff. if you could pass on my thanks to Dr Sam and the other amazing a&e staff I will be extremely grateful, they all do a fantastic job and unfortunately it's not until you need them that you realise how lucky we are.

Thank you for your response but there was no need to thank me for taking the time to write on this site.I have nothing but admiration for the staff at york district accident and emergency, they do an amazing job under extreme pressures and unrealistic targets, I always feel guilty about using a&e for pain ,my thoughts are it should only be used for life threatening problems, it is always the very last resort that I attend a&e and I cannot express my thanks enough that we have such wonderful professional people who are there when we need them.
