"Worried"

About: Croydon University Hospital

I went for a blood test on Monday 27/06/16.i it's not the first time but it is the first time i see such a bad service.

I had a list of test to do from the fertility dep the first one being circled because i had to pay for it. The phlebotomist wanted to do only the first one cause it was circled...it took a while to explain why it is like that and it took another member of staff to convince the first that they needed to do the whole list.

Then it started...first the phlebotomist asked me to keep my arm in an awkward position...not at all relaxed as its supposed to be...they couldn't see the vein although I could clearly see it..it was like a huge map of bulging veins on my arm. Then the phlebotomist put the needle in without any indication for me to squeeze my fist and later release. The tourniquet stayed on my arm the whole time.. they took the first sample and then for the second one they were fumbling around almost dropping the blood on the floor. For the second one my blood 'stopped'...they didn't know why...surely because the tourniquet was still on and my arm was purple and i couldn't feel it anymore. ..or maybe because i was too worried. The phlebotomist only draw a drop and said it's enough anyway. When i got home i noticed my arm was already getting dark...which never happens to me and the amount of blood on the tissue..amazing!

Now i m worried that the phlebotomist didn't draw enough for the tests..and i will have to repeat it. I'm in the process of getting an ivf eventually and every minute. ..hour..day counts after a long long wait.

Words cannot describe the feelings i have now because that kind of staff 'took care'of me.
