About: The Royal London Hospital For Integrated Medicine

(as the patient),

What I liked

I first came to the Royal London Homeopathic hospital in 1998. I was in a very raw state, having just undergone a mastectomy and suffering intensely from having to give up HRT because of my breast cancer. What was especially reassuring to me was that all the doctors are fully medically trained: whatever was suggested was complementary to conventional medical treatment. And the doctor (who I always saw) was able to provide me with solutions when conventional medicine could not. For example, an effective treatment for post HRT menopausal sweats and a gentle remedy to control pain rather than super-powerful co-codamol with its not-very-nice side effects.

I have had several cancer scares since 1998 and have found the care and emotional support given to me by the hospital invaluable.

Anything else?

It seems madness that the RLHH has to spend so much time justifying its existence when it achieves such wonderful results and so many satisfied patients. What does it take to convince the sceptics (who not so long ago considered osteopaths and acupuncturists to be charlatans when they are now an accepted form of medicine) that patients really do know best?
